"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today", so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness."
-Hebrews 3:13-

How many of you have ever had someone say something bad about you? Was it a rumor, a mean spirited joke, or a snarky comment? For most people this has happened more than once, and for some it happens more frequently than others. As sad as this is I want you to ask yourself, have I ever said mean-spirit things to or about someone else?

If people are being honest, the answer is probably yes. As much as I dislike it, I have done it. Sometimes we do it without realizing, we meant it as a joke, or we say it out of revenge thinking our feelings are justified. Now if we don't like when it happens to us why do we then do it to others? We should be building each other up, not tearing each other down.

Instead of being a negative force in someone's life, why not be a positive one? As a senior you have the chance to be a leader, role model, and encourager. Every person is different and where someone many flourish in leadership roles others shy away from the spotlight. Being a role model does not mean that you need grand gestures in order to be impactful. A smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or praying for someone can make a difference in their day. There is not shortage of bullies in the world, don't add to the numbers. Build each other up!

"We urge you brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and everyone else."
-1 Thessalonians 5:14-15-
